Textile Workshops: Tailored press release

The Fabric of Life
Continuing the Thread ….
The creative workshops at Les Soeurs Anglaises (www.lessoeursanglaises.com) are the perfect solution
for those seeking to discover their creative strengths and polish
technical skills whilst enjoying an exhilerating break in stunning surroundings
and comfortable, stylish accommodation in South West France. Knitting, Textiles (two) and Book Binding make up the inspired 2010 workshops .
Claire Montgomerie kicks off the season (13th to 17th May) with ‘Designing Your Own Knitwear’, an intensive three day workshop which includes a local tour taking in yarn and fabric shops and markets; internationally renowned folk artist Julie Arkell returns for the third time for a five day workishop ‘Stitching, Knitting and Collecting’ (30th June to 6th July); the acclaimed Rachel Hazell runs her first LSA workshop (7th-13th August), co-promoted by the prestigious Selvedge magazine, ‘The Extraordinary Expanding Sketchbook Journal’ where she will guide participants in the creation of highly original ‘journals’ using a variety of materials; and textile artist Priscilla Jones will run the final workshop of the year (14th October to 18th October) with ‘Wire and Fabric’ using hand and machine stitching as well as paint. With intimate groups of between eight and 16 participants the LSA workshops make ideal, affordable breaks for anyone interested in learning or improving their skills .
The maison de maître and newly converted barn/studio – in which accommodation and the workshops are housed - sit in magnificent, and mature gardens alongside a burbling stream. The glorious house boasts a heated outdoor pool set against the idyllic countryside of the Perigord Vert region of Aquitaine, situated half-way between the bustling towns of Angoulème and Perigueux, not far from the historic villages of Brantome and Aubeterre.
The proven ‘textile’ workshops - which this year are complemented by a Tango and four writers workshops led by luminaries such as Roger McGough - are run by the delightful Katie Elliott Armitage (whose wine buff husband selects the wines!) under the Les Soeurs Anglaises banner, just outside Riberac in the Dordogne. Delicious home cooked meals using local produce accompanied by carefully chosen wines are just the icing on the cake!
